The Center for Knowledge Management (CKM) is a think-thank with an aim of enhancing and improving knowledge management processes in all societal spheres in FYR of Macedonia and the SEE region.

The Center for Knowledge Management (CKM) is a research centre established in 2008, with an aim of enhancing and improving knowledge management processes in all societal spheres in FYR of Macedonia and the SEE region. Covering a wide area of activities performed in collaboration with the civil sector, the state, and public administration and the profit sector, CKM 's vision is to become an active actor in the institutional and economic development of the country, and the region in general.

CKM’s activities can be classified in several areas of work:

At macro level

CKM conducts research and analysis in the area of local, national, and regional development for the purpose of exploring current and proposing new policies, measures and projects in the area of economic development, science and technology, business enabling environment and entrepreneurship.

At micro level

CKM works towards supporting technology transfer, innovation and competitiveness across the dominant industries and sectors in the country and the SEE region, with projects that support the use of new technologies and enable the cooperation of the scientific institutions with other stakeholders in the society.

At organizational level

CKM enables the organizations in FYR of Macedonia to improve their innovation potential as well as their decision-making capacity. These activities are covered within our Innovation Lab - I-lab.mk.

The Center is established by respected members of the community coming from the civil, public and private sector, whose knowledge and experience provides a strong synergy of competencies in a vast array of disciplines. The combination of capabilities and competence make The Center for Knowledge Management an exceptional partner in developing of new ideas and implementing local and international projects in a wide range of expertise like knowledge management, IT, development and strategic management.

Computer Technology Institute and Press "Diophantus" is (CTI) is the biggest ICT related institute in Greece and it is directly supervised by the Greek Ministry of Education and Lifelong Learning. In fact the Ministry of Education utilizes CTI, as a main body for the definition of ICT promotion policies in Greece. The “Telematics Center” of CTI, participating in this project, was established with the basic objective to enhance regional development through the effective use of new ICT for the regions covered from the institute.

Based on its fields of interest, CTI’ has participated within the last 20 years to a great number of European and National projects, such as: ESPRIT, Telematics, Integra, Environment, eLearning initiative, IST (more than 40 projects), Interreg, Innovative actions, Ten Telecom, Growth, Leonardo, LLP KA3/ICT, Adapt, Socrates, Craft, Marie Curie, National Program for Competitiveness, National program for research and technology, Projects funded from the Greek ministry of Education, National Information Society Program, Private funded projects.

CTI has significant experience and active role in Greece (through its connection with the Greek Ministry of Education) in the field of Innovation support for SMEs through: - organization of telecenters and promotion of e-services provision in SMEs in remote territories, - supporting activities for eCompetences enhancement, -supporting entrepreneurship innovation.

The “Telematics Center” Directorate in particular, has significant experience from participation on several past projects in relation with ICT application to support SMEs. Based on this scope it has participated on several past Interreg and LLP projects (e.g. TELEACCESS INTERREG CADSES Project, ECOOP Interreg IVC Project, ICT-VN Interreg IVC Project, SORURALL LLP Project, MED Tecnopolis INTERREG MED project).

UET Centre is a civil society organization established in 2009 as an initiative of a group of researchers and lecturers at the European University of Tirana (UET). UET Centre intends to contribute towards the progress and democratization of the Albanian society through policy-oriented research projects, capacity building and joint programmes in these main areas:

UET Centre has a pool of highly qualified researchers, scholars and project managers and it also collaborates with the European University of Tirana for expertise as well as with the local and regional CSOs and network of higher education institutions, businesses and other stakeholders. Limassol Chamber of Commerce and Industry

The Limassol Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI, Cyprus) was established in 1962 and today represents more than 750 companies operating in all regional economic sectors. The Chamber’s mission is to defend the interests of the Limassol business community and promote the economic development and sustainable growth in the Limassol city and district. From its very inception LCCI has played a leading role in the economic life of Limassol, either by operating as a pressure group towards the realisation of vitally important economic projects or by developing concrete initiatives of its own in that direction.

The Chamber has played an instrumental role in the pursuit of projects fundamentally important for the economic and social development of Limassol and Cyprus. Such infrastructure projects include among others road projects, Industrial Parks, the Limassol port and the Kourris Dam which is the larger dam in Cyprus, as well as a series of tourist infrastructure projects including the Limassol marina, conference centre and many others. It was also the Limassol Chamber that conceived and implemented, since 1960s, the idea of the Wine Festival, which has come today to be associated with the modern history of Limassol as an event of commercial, tourist and cultural interest.

Over the years the Limassol Chamber has continued to be at the forefront of initiatives aiming to achieve optimum economic development for Limassol. In that context it is actively involved in promoting Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship and was the driving force behind the development of strategic projects such as the Cyprus University of Technology operating since 2007 and the Cyprus Science Technology Park which commence construction in 2015, both located in Limassol.

LCCI is interested in developing partnerships for bidding in grant opportunities in the framework of EU programs and initiatives in line with the Chamber main sectors of expertise and activities as well as possible future development fields for the benefit of the organisation, its members and the regional business community. The Chamber has established experience in participating in National and European projects.

Limassol Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) as mentioned, has the capacity of more than 750 Members, which are companies from all the vital sectors of the economy like Industry, Services, Tourism, Research & Innovation, Commerce, and Shipping. Some of them are worldwide known enterprises. The LCCI developed through the years an excellent communication mechanism with the business community and this is a crucial aspect for the successful implantation of the project and the best access to the companies. Furthermore, the LCCI has a very good experience in participation in European Programmes and is carrying the appropriate knowledge for the needs of the project. Also, amongst the main missions of the LCCI is the planning, organizing and providing training seminars according the needs of the economy and the priorities of its member. Last fundamental point is that the Limassol Chamber of Commerce and Industry developed a great infrastructure which allows the organization to invest, operate and manage lots of initiatives as the participation in European Projects and supporting its Member accordingly.

The LCCI has its own building infrastructure and the appropriate technical equipment according to the needs of the organization which comprise among others Hall up to 200 seats for organising events & dissemination activities, two professional boardrooms and the general supporting office equipment.

 


Association of Information Technology Companies of Northern Greece

From its foundation until the present day, the Association of Information Technology Companies of Northern Greece has been the only collective body representing the interests and concerns of the information technology businesses active in Northern Greece (regions of Macedonia, Thrace and Thessaly). Today SEPVE proudly numbers more than 200 member enterprises.

Over the 22 years since its foundation the Association has organized a significant number of events, training seminars, conferences and forums, while taking part in an even larger number of such events organized by other associations and agencies. SEPVE has also focused on organizing business delegations to countries in South Eastern Europe. These visits have provided the Association’s members with the opportunity to enter into valuable commercial agreements, and to stay abreast of developments in information technology beyond our national frontiers.

Additionally, and in regard to the interaction with the public administration:

  • SEPVE acts as a consultant to the Ministry of Macedonia and Thrace on the potential for development and exploitation of the information technology businesses of the region.
  • The Association also acts as a consultant to the four regional authorities of Northern Greece and Thessaly on means of funding small and medium-sized information technology firms, through the implementation of special business plans.
  • It offers advisory services to the Ministry of National Economy to assist in the more effective development and use of electronic data interchange systems.
  • The Association recommends and advises the Ministry of Development on new measures, projects and initiatives under the Development Act, with special reference to the information technology businesses of Northern Greece.

Currently, SEPVE implements two more EU Projects :

 

1. FRACTALS (FP7 project, duration 24 months, ending Sept.2016)

FRACTALS is one of the Sixteen Accelerators (A16) financed under the Seventh Framework Program that contributes to the goals of the Future Internet Public-Private Partnership, in particular FI-PPP Phase 3, by facilitating the promotion and early adoption of FIWARE Technologies. The main idea and purpose of FRACTALS is to support the community of innovative ICT SMEs and web-entrepreneurs to develop FIWARE based applications with high market potential, addressing the needs of the agrifood sector.

 

2. ODEdu (ERASMUS+ project, duration 36 months, ending Dec.2018)

Innovative Open Data Education and Training based on PBL and Learning Analytics (ODEdu) project aims to establish a Knowledge Alliance between academia, business and the public sector that will boost Open Data education and training. The Alliance will follow a four-dimensional approach, tackling pedagogical, technological, content and application objectives. The consolidation of all efforts will provide a transnational set of results, as follows:

  • a novel learning model based on PBL and learning analytics, termed Data Driven PBL
  • an open-source platform to support flexible learning pathways and course re-design
  • co-created, freely available for any use, multimodal content on Open Data
  • innovative activities in academia, businesses and the public sector.
